Homes For Heroes Ltd was set up on the 15th October 2008 by Ken McMillan and Ewen McAulay. The initial aim is to procure affordable housing for members of the Armed Forces while they are still serving. This initiative is aimed at providing a home for when the serviceman eventually leaves the services and so prevent them from being subjected to the mercy of council waiting lists..
As recently highlighted in the media, many people have been shocked to hear of the 5000 homeless ex servicemen currently on the streets of Britains towns and cities. We have resolved to do something about it.
A fundamental principle is to covenant 50% of net profit to service based charities of which the homeless issue is a key concern. We hope that this figure will exceed £1million annually
General Sir Mike Jackson is particularly interested in the idea. He sees this initiative as both helping our serving people into homes while at the same time helping those less fortunate elsewhere.
