ABOUT US

The idea evolved when a few friends got together to talk about the potential to buy some houses or flats as an investment opportunity while property prices were falling. From the very outset, they both decided that a key aspect of the concept was to covenant a portion of any profit generated to service-based charities. It was here that the idea for Homes For Heroes was born. Ken and Ewen took the idea for Homes for Heroes UK to a number of Developers and Financial Institutions who have shown great interest and support for the concept. Homes For Heroes Ltd was set up on the 15th October 2008 by Ken McMillan and Ewen McAulay. The initial aim is to procure affordable housing for members of the Armed Forces while they are still serving. This initiative is aimed at providing a home for when the serviceman eventually leaves the services and so prevent them from being subjected to the mercy of council waiting lists..

As recently highlighted in the media, many people have been shocked to hear of the 5000 homeless ex servicemen currently on the streets of Britains towns and cities. We have resolved to do something about it.

A fundamental principle is to covenant 50% of net profit to service based charities of which the homeless issue is a key concern. We hope that this figure will exceed £1million annually

General Sir Mike Jackson is particularly interested in the idea. He sees this initiative as both helping our serving people into homes while at the same time helping those less fortunate elsewhere.
